Optics coatings: Blue Light & TransitionUpdated 6 months ago
When placing your prescription order you'll be asked if you want to add extra coatings for your lenses. The two options for clear lenses is Blue Light coating or Transition coating. Find more information about the coatings below:
BLUE LIGHT
What is Blue Light?
Blue light is emitted from digital screens like computers, smartphones, and TVs, as well as from LED lighting. Prolonged exposure—especially at night—can cause eye strain, headaches, and even sleep disruption.
How does the Blue Light coating work?
Our Blue Light coating acts as a filter that blocks harmful blue-violet light while allowing beneficial light to pass through. This coating is particularly helpful for those who spend significant time in front of screens, as it reduces digital eye strain and helps protect against long-term eye damage.
Benefits of Blue Light coating:
- Reduces eye strain and fatigue during screen use
- Minimizes glare for more comfortable viewing
- Helps maintain healthier sleep patterns
If you will be using your glasses as reading glasses and often look at screens, we recommend you to add this coating to your lenses.
TRANSITION
What are Transition lenses?
Transition lenses, also known as photochromic lenses, automatically adapt to changing light conditions. They work like magic and eliminates the need to switch between clear glasses and sunglasses. Indoors, they remain clear, while outdoors, they darken in response to sunlight.
How do Transition lenses work?
Transition lenses contain molecules that react to UV rays from the sun. When exposed to UV light, the lenses darken, providing protection from glare and harmful UV rays. Once you're back indoors and away from UV light, the lenses return to their clear state.
Benefits of Transition lenses:
- Automatically adjust to changing light conditions
- Eliminate the need for separate prescription sunglasses
- Protect your eyes from 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays
- Reduce glare for more comfortable outdoor vision
The lenses are convenient for anyone who frequently moves between indoor and outdoor environments - or just wants to avoid the hassle of switching between regular glasses and sunglasses.
